RIPSTOP fabrics feature woven fabrics using a special reinforcement technique that makes them resistant to rips and tears. During weaving, the (thick) reinforcing threads are twisted at regular intervals in the form of a cross bar. The intervals are usually between 5 and 8 millimeters. Thin and light ripstop fabrics have a three-dimensional structure because the thicker threads are woven into the thinner fabric.
